How many Jewish day schools are in Broward County, and which take the state scholarship?
22 schools in the October 28, 2026 state directory for Broward list a Jewish affiliation, and 17 of them are flagged as FTC/FES-EO participants. The Jewish Federation of Broward County lists 15 day schools on its own directory, from Cooper City and Davie to Margate and Hollywood.
The two counts differ because the state directory also includes early-childhood centers and schools that call themselves academies rather than day schools.
Do Broward Jewish day schools offer their own tuition assistance?
Yes. The Federation's 2026 financial assistance guide says many Broward day schools have a system for families who cannot pay full tuition and that the aid may not be advertised, so the guide tells families to ask. It names Beth Emet, Brauser Maimonides, Posnack, Landow, Lubavitch Hebrew Academy, South Florida Jewish Academy, Ohr HaTorah and Sha'arei Bina among them.
The Federation's phone line is 954-252-6900 for questions about the guide.
How does the Florida scholarship fit with day school aid?
The state award goes first, because it does not require a financial aid file, and school-based aid then looks at the balance. The Broward award is $8,494 in grades K-3, $7,896 in grades 4-8 and $7,701 in grades 9-12 for 2026-27.
Because tuition is not reported to the state, ask each school for the figure after the scholarship is applied.
What does the state scholarship do at a Broward Jewish day school, and what does it not do?
The state scholarship pays tuition up to the Broward award for the grade, and it does not replace the school's own financial assistance.
| It does | It does not | |
|---|---|---|
| Tuition | Pays up to the Broward award for the grade | Cover tuition above that amount |
| Judaic studies | Funds the school's tuition, which includes them | Require a school to change its curriculum |
| School aid | Leaves it available for the balance | Replace the school's own financial aid |
