Last verified: October 2026

What are the Step Up For Students scholarship amounts for Broward in 2026-27?

The Private School Scholarship and PEP pay $8,494 (K-3), $7,896 (4-8) and $7,701 (9-12) in Broward. Unique Abilities pays $10,658, $10,060 and $9,865 at the standard level, and $21,941 or $35,295 at the two highest service levels.

What are the key Step Up deadlines for Broward families?

Applications for the Private School Scholarship and FES-UA from new families close November 15, 2026. Acceptance is due December 15, 2026 and enrollment of transfers for Quarter 4 closes February 15, 2027. Any student who remains unenrolled after the Quarter 3 cutoff must be enrolled by January 15, 2027 to get 2026-27 money.

Families can also switch programs once more this fall, in a window that ends October 30, 2026.

How many Broward schools participate with Step Up?

251 Broward schools carry the FTC/FES-EO flag, 244 carry FES-UA and 30 carry PEP in the October 28, 2026 directory.

How does the money reach a Broward school?

For the Private School Scholarship, the school submits the enrollment in EMA and the parent approves it, and Step Up pays after each quarter's funds arrive from the state. UA and PEP do not need school-submitted enrollment.

What does renewal mean at Step Up?

Renewing means the child received Quarter 4 funding last year under the same scholarship. If a family misses the renewal deadline, it is treated as new when priority is decided.

What does Step Up For Students do for Broward families, and what does it not?

Step Up For Students processes applications and payments for the scholarships, and it does not run schools or decide where a child enrolls.
